Since the rise of internet on a massive scale in the '90s, we have seen download speeds come a long, long way: from only a couple of kilobytes a second to several thousand a second now, the way we use internet has also changed in a directly proportional measure. Whereas not too long ago the internet was for entertainment purposes, limited to business use by super rich corporations and the few that could afford faster connections, today speeds are good enough to facilitate commerce and improve the quality of life in a substantial way for millions upon millions of people.
